Plainview is an oil camp of timber derricks and worker tents. The name points to Daniel Plainview, the ruthless oil baron Daniel Day-Lewis plays in There Will Be Blood (2007), a film set in the same era of Southwest oil drilling. Fans also point out that Barney Nugent, the man who often works the camp office, looks a lot like Day-Lewis in the role.
How to find it
Plainview is in the Río Bravo region of New Austin, near the Mexican border. Look for the cluster of wooden oil derricks.
