Buried in the N64 cartridge is a working ZX Spectrum emulator, loaded with about ten of the Spectrum games Rare's founders made as Ultimate Play the Game, among them Jetpac, Atic Atac, Sabre Wulf and Knight Lore. Programmer Steve Ellis built it as a side experiment during development; the way to reach it was switched off before release, but the code was never removed. It went unnoticed for 15 years, until a fan posted about it in March 2012.

How to find it

Not reachable in the unmodified game. A community patch released in 2012 for the North American cartridge image unlocks it, playable on an emulator or flash cart.
