Biz Markie sang over the piano from Gilbert O'Sullivan's Alone Again (Naturally) without clearing it. O'Sullivan sued; a judge quoted "Thou shalt not steal" and ruled that every sample needs a licence. The 1991 decision changed how records were made: the collage era of hip-hop ended here.
