The Boat Captain shows up in every older God of War: Kratos let the Hydra eat him in the first game for his key and fought him again in God of War II. In Midgard there's a treasure map called The Boat Captain's Key, and it leads to his wrecked ship on the Isle of Death. The note with it suggests his crew took the key and the ship after he died and ran aground here.
How to find it
The map is at the very top of Stone Falls: throw the axe at the bridge to lower it and cross. Dig under the old ship at the top of the mountain on the Isle of Death in the Lake of Nine.
