In the first fight with the Stranger (Baldur), Kratos slams him into a big standing stone. That stone carries a faded version of the giants' mural found in Jotunheim at the end of the game, the one showing the final fight with Baldur. So the ending is on screen in the first hour, and the game never explains how the carving got there.

How to find it

Early in the game, during the opening boss fight with the Stranger near Kratos' house. Look at the standing stone right before Kratos swings him into it.
